About fifty participating companies from Russia, Belarus, India, the UK and Germany present their developments in the field of support and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities at the specialized exhibition in Yekaterinburg. The event is part of the launch of the first World Congress for Persons with Disabilities.
“The interregional specialized exhibition plays an important role in informing the public about national programs for the social and legal protection of persons with disabilities, as well as about rehabilitation opportunities provided by medical, industrial and socio-cultural organizations. The exhibition is attended by domestic and foreign manufacturers of technical equipment for rehabilitation, functional clothing and software to create an accessible environment, as well as by medical and rehabilitation centers from Russia and CIS countries. Demonstration of technical equipment for rehabilitation and adaptation of persons with disabilities, the presentation of rehabilitation technologies will assist cooperation of manufacturers, suppliers and consumers of rehabilitation equipment and rehabilitation technologies,” said Andrei Zlokazov, Minister of Social Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region.
The exhibition called “Social support and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. Technical equipment, technologies, services” was organized by the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry. An event like that is organized by the specialists once every two years. However, in 2017 the exhibition became even more extensive and was included in the program of the World Congress for Persons with Disabilities. Within three days, the guests will get acquainted with more than 100 brands of specialized products.
“Along with the demonstration of exhibits there will be about 20 inclusive master classes, more than 30 presentations and 20 business programs. For example, master classes and training in therapeutic exercises, canine therapy. There will be a large number of discussions on the adaptation of people with disabilities to life in society. Participants and guests of the exhibition will also be able to get consultations with specialists on social protection and support of people with disabilities, and purchase of technical equipment for rehabilitation,” said Andrei Besedin, president of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
On the first day of the exhibition at the stand of the Sverdlovsk region several events on psychological, medical and social adaptation of people with disabilities took place. The Sverdlovsk Regional Special Library for the Blind introduced children’s inclusive reading, and a specialized children’s and youth school with adaptive physical rehabilitation. The opening ceremony was attended by more than 300 delegates of the First World Congress for Persons with Disabilities from 18 countries and several hundred guests from the Sverdlovsk Region and Russia.
A unique development was presented at the exhibition by Ural Federal University: specialists presented an ABC-book for children with autism.
“We have developed a special layout of the alphabet with interchangeable pages. It looks like a puzzle. Special characters help the child find contact with the book. The game process will give children the opportunity to choose actions and soften the perception, “- explained the project manager, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Tatyana Bystrova.
On the opening day, the exhibition also hosted many master classes. Specialists of the Regional Center for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled, for example, introduced the guests to the exhibition with two of their own adaptive excersice programs: health-improving gymnastics “Боди Смайл” – “smiling body” and “Anatomical train”. This is a complex of exercises, combining the eastern and western practices for maximum relaxation and stretching of muscles and joints.
The exhibition called “Social support and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. Technical equipment, technologies, services” was the first of the series of events to be held in Yekaterinburg in the coming days under the first World Congress for Persons with Disabilities.
